Forestry Department under the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism has developed strategies with respect to the management, conservation and utilization of forest resources in Brunei and in response to the increasing public demand for outdoor recreational opportunities, the department has developed Forest Recreation Parks in strategic places in the country.
These parks are, by design and purpose, established within forested sites. They are intended to serve a dual purpose. Aside from providing the public with venues for outdoor recreation, the parks are also used as a medium to promote awareness on and appreciation of nature and forest among the people of Brunei Darussalam
Such awareness are crucial in maintaining the ecosystem and promoting biodiversity as to represent Brunei’s greatest living natural resources. Hence specific sites inside Forest Reserves which are accessible from population centers, and containing special natural features such as aesthetic landscapes, geologic and topographic formations, hydrologic attractions, and other interesting aspects have been developed into such parks.
